Welcome!
The last year, the hope was to survive, and we received more than that. This year, we have gone beyond surviving. This year, you will truly get to see into the minds of CSI alumni and students through their artistic expression. Perhaps you might see a hint of a Zeitgeist, or perhaps you might see an attempt to recreate the world we see around us. In this issue, we are even have two examples of how the literary world takes on the stereotypes of genres such as Noir and Science Fiction and makes them more an examination of life.
Last year, we received a boost from The Writing Matters conference and CSI Art Professor Angela Batchelor. For 2026, we received even more from the conference, and Batchelor has guided her students our way.
Across the country, editors of online magazines like SILO usually wail and gnash their teeth, worrying about survival on a regular basis. Here at CSI, we are grateful to learn that the main worry we have is trying to find room for all of the beauty, art, and throught.
May you enjoy this or be provoked to thought and reflection by this as much as we have been.
Sincerely,
Robert Mayer
